The Wedding Program
Wedding programs are distributed to your guests before the ceremony; you may either place the programs in a prominent spot where your guests will pick them up before they are seated, or you may have a friend distribute them.
Wedding programs can serve many purposes.
-
They are often used to "introduce" the members of the wedding party, and explain their relationship to the bride and groom.
Maid of Honor: Katherine Anne Perry, sister of the bride
-
You may wish to explain the religious, spiritual or cultural significance of various aspects of your ceremony, especially if these traditions may be new to your guests.
A huppah is a traditional Jewish wedding canopy.
The huppah symbolizes the couple's new home and unity
as a wedded couple.
- Wedding programs can provide the words to hymns or songs, so your guests may sing along, or simply read the words as they are sung.
-
Dedications and thank-yous may also be noted in a wedding program.
Our flowers are dedicated
in loving memory
of Jeanette and Earl Lindey,
Grandparents of the bride
dearly missed, but forever in our hearts.
*
We would like to thank our parents
Caroline and Louis Kendall
Harriet and Mark Albright
and Theresa and Issac Porter
for their love and support
and our family and friends
for sharing our special day.
- Of course, a wedding program can serve all or any combination of these purposes.
